We’re inside of three weeks before the start of the 2022 NFL season and the beginning of Gus Bradley’s first season as Colts defensive coordinator.

This long-time defensive coordinator and former head coach brings with him years of experience that features stops in Tampa Bay, Seattle (where he helped establish the Legion of Boom), Jacksonville, Los Angeles (Chargers), and Las Vegas. He’s incredibly respected around the league and had tough nosed defenses everywhere he’s been.

The question is, can he take a Colts defense that ranked 2nd in turnovers but 16th in total defense a season ago and turn them into an elite unit?

He certainly has the pieces to do it, assuming everybody buys in and grows within his scheme.

Wednesday on The Dan Dakich Show Coach Bradley stopped by to discuss his journey from college coaching to the NFL and share how he feels about the opportunities present for the Colts defense this season.

Coach Bradley also discussed:

  • what he’s learned from his defense through the first two preseason games
  • where there biggest strengths and where room for improvement lies
  • whether or not he had a say in any of the offseason acquisitions made by Colts GM Chris Ballard
  • how he’ll measure success from his defensive units on a week to week basis during the regular season

Check out the full conversation with Colts DC Gus Bradley below and keep listening to The Dan Dakich Show, weekdays 12-3pm, on The Fan.
