STATEWIDE–Some storms could move into Indiana this weekend and produce gusty winds or heavy rain at times, says the National Weather Service.

Matt Eckhoff, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, said the storm system is supposed to move in from the northwest.

“It should arrive early in the day on Saturday and there could be showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon and evening, possibly even into Sunday. The best chances for rain are in the northern and northwestern sections, but there is a chance for rain in all of Indiana,” said Eckhoff.

A cold front is supposed to pass through the state Sunday, which will drop the temperatures into the low 80s and upper 70s in some spots.

“There could be some occasional gusty winds or some small hail, but the probability for severe weather is low,” said Eckhoff.

After the weekend rain, highs are expected to be in the 80s for all of next week.
