INDIANAPOLIS–A teenage boy was hit by a bullet Tuesday morning in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis.

Neighbors reported hearing around 10 shots. IMPD believes the shooting happened sometime after midnight in the area of E. Terrace Avenue and Riley Place. That is near the intersection of Emerson and Southeastern avenues.

“Right now, we have very little information to go on other than one of the witnesses stated that the victim was meeting with a vehicle,” said IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer.

Weilhammer says it appears the victim and his friends were meeting with someone or a group of people in the vehicle when a fight began and someone started shooting.

One officer thinks he may have seen either a silver or gray Chevy Cobalt leaving the scene with several men inside it. They are trying to find the shooter.

If you have any information, you should call IMPD or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
