BEECH GROVE, Ind.–One person was killed and several others were injured in a shooting at a park in Beech Grove Sunday night. Beech Grove police have an idea of who and what they’re looking for.

“We do know that our current suspect vehicle is a white Toyota Camry. It may have had a window shot out of it. The only thing we know about the suspects is that there may be two to three African American males,” said Beech Grove Deputy Police Chief Tom Hurrle.

Police believe the shooting happened during a vigil at Don Challis Park for someone who recently died.

“There was an argument that appeared to be between two females. Then it was separated. Somehow that erupted into this massive barrage of weapons being fired down there,” said Hurrle.

Hurrle says they are trying to figure out how the victims and other people at the vigil were connected to Beech Grove.

“There’s nothing that points to them to Beech Grove. How they ended up at that park, I have no idea. I grew up in Beech Grove. This is not representative of Beech Grove,” said Hurrle.

Police have also been reviewing surveillance videos from homeowners in the area. Beech Grove ambulances were not available for this incident because they were helping people at the Greenwood Park Mall, where a shooting also happened Sunday night.

If you have any information about the shooting, you should call the Beech Grove Police Department.
