MARION COUNTY — Derrick Dale will be in prison for the next 44 years, with another 5 on probation.

In April of 2020, police went to Kirkwood Drive after the 8-year-old daughter of Dale’s girlfriend was rushed to the hospital.  The girl did not survive.

Her autopsy showed multiple traumatic injuries, as she had been strangled and beaten with things like jumper cables in the weeks leading up to her death.

WISH TV reports that Dale and his girlfriend, Kimberly Grosklos, found the girl unresponsive in the bathtub.  They did not call 911 right away.  When first responders finally arrived, the girl was in cardiac arrest.

Grosklos was sentenced for Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death.  Dale was sentenced for Aggravated Battery Resulting in Death, Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in a Death, and Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury to a Person Less than 14-years-old.
