INDIANAPOLIS–Purple Line construction is supposed to resume in Indianapolis Monday morning.

“Purple Line construction will enter a new 130-day closure along 38th Street between Keystone and Emerson avenues. One eastbound lane will remain open. Westbound lanes will be closed between Keystone and Emerson. Traffic will be detoured via Emerson Avenue, 46th Street and Keystone Avenue,” said Carrie Black, IndyGo Director of Communications.

A previous closure on 38th street, from Fall Creek Parkway to Keystone Avenue, is now reopened to two-way traffic using the southern portion of 38th street. The northern portion of 38th Street will remain closed.

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works also says there are three roads to be restricted to traffic starting Monday, July 11 for various construction projects.

Bridgeport Road, between Morris Street and Mellen Road:

Bridgeport Road will close on Monday, July 11 and is anticipated to reopen on July 15. The closure will allow for the continued installation of three pedestrian bridges. The overall $1.7 million construction project includes a new sidewalk, ADA-compliant ramps, and pedestrian bridges along the west side of Bridgeport Road to improve accessibility and general connectivity for multiple neighborhoods. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via Morris Street, Raceway Road, US-40, and Porter Street. Local traffic and nearby residents along Bridgeport Road will still be able to access local roads and driveways.

Vandergriff Road, between Davis and Pentecost roads:

Vandergriff Road will close to through traffic on Monday, July 11, and is anticipated to reopen on July 29. The closure will allow for the replacement of the culvert at approximately 9755 Vandergriff Road; the location is one of several included in a $1 million project upgrading deteriorated roadway culverts in the southern portion of the county. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via Senour and Pentecost roads. Local traffic and nearby residents along Vandergriff Road will still be able to access local roads and driveways up to the point of full closure at the culvert.

Various streets in the Avalon Hills neighborhood:

Resurfacing work in the Avalon Hills neighborhood on Indy’s northeast side will begin on July 11, to be completed without a full closure but with flaggers to direct local traffic around construction work. Improvements along Avalon Lane, Avalon Lane E Drive, Avalon Road, and Autumn Lane are expected to be done by July 15, depending on the weather.
