INDIANAPOLIS–You can expect fireworks to light up the night sky on July 4th in downtown Indianapolis. There are several things you should know.

The fireworks show will begin promptly at 10 pm and last 20 minutes. Roughly 3,500 fireworks will be fired and they will be synced to music playing from B 105.7, 97.1 Hank-FM, and 93.1 WIBC. The show is co-sponsored by Downtown Indy, Inc. and Visit Indy.

“We’re also happy to partner with public safety to make sure this is a safe environment,” said Courtney Rissman with Downtown Indy, Inc. Events.

Indiana Donor Network and Donate Life Indiana are sponsoring the finale of the show.

As a reminder, the Regions Tower is no longer the launch site, which had been the host location and sponsor of the Downtown Freedom Fest for more than 50 years before 2020. Starting last year, Downtown Indy, Inc. identified a new launch site next to the Regions Tower, 500 North Meridian Street. That spot gives you a great view of places like the American Legion Mall, University Park, and the steps of the War Memorial.

IMPD recommends that you be ready for traffic delays Monday.

“Be patient, be smart, and be careful. Please have a plan ahead of time. You’re going to see a lot of officers downtown,” said Charles DeBlaso, IMPD Commander in the Special Operations Bureau.

Throughout downtown, there will be some temporary road closures you should pay attention to from 9:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. including:

Illinois Street (from Ohio to St. Clair Street)

Meridian Street (from Vermont to St. Clair Street)

North Street (from Illinois to Pennsylvania Street)

Michigan Street (from Illinois to Pennsylvania Street)
