The Biden administration continues to stand by the idea that no one could have predicted the nationwide baby formula shortage.
President Biden made the claim during a press briefing Tuesday, he had no idea that shutting down the Abbott facility would cause such a large shortage of formula.
The FDA shut down Abbott’s facility over some bacterial contamination following a nationwide recall.
“Well, I don’t think anyone anticipated the impact of the shutdown of one facility in — the Abbott facility. And it was accurately shut down because it was — the formula was questioned, in terms of its purity.”
However, baby formula CEOs have reportedly told Biden since the beginning that this would be “a very serious event.” When a CNN reporter pressed Biden on this, the president stated that “they did (know), but I didn’t.”
Tony Katz says this proves the Biden administration has no problem with lying aggressively to the American people.
“The man is incompetent, what else do you need to know? This is an unserious administration…they knew it and they knew they were going to cause it. They were told they were going to cause it and they didn’t pay attention. They didn’t care.”
The FDA has been unable to link the bacteria found in Abbott’s plant to the strains found in the sick babies that prompted the original recall. It has been argued that the prolonged facility shutdown could have been avoided altogether.
