BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A homicide investigation is underway in Bloomington after a 20-year-old was found shot to death in a wooded area.
Officers responded around 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning to the Woods at Lattimer apartment complex, just south of the College Mall. Officers received multiple reports of shots fired in the area.
After arriving at the scene, Bloomington police say they noticed apartment with its back door forcibly opened. When they searched the inside, the unit was unoccupied.
Officers remained on scene for over an hour, and eventually searched a wooded area just west of the complex. Just after 7 a.m., an officer found a man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 20-year-old Desta Clark. His death was ruled a homicide by multiple gunshot wounds.
Police later spoke to someone who lived in the apartment that had been broken into. That person said two men in face coverings kicked the door in and chased the victim out.
Police are still investigating.
