WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. – Wayne Township Trustee Charles Jones is stepping down after pleading guilty to a charge of conflict of interest. Jones along with current fire chief Mike Lang and former fire chief Randy Adams, and Township employee James Parham all reached plea agreements Friday.

The plea deals call for no jail time, but Jones and the fire chiefs have to repay nearly $32,000 each. According to court documents, they each accepted salaries as board members of the Wayne Township Fire Department Inc., a fire department affiliated non profit.

As part of the plea agreement, Jones will have to resign as a Trustee. All four convictions will be expunged after a year if restitution is made.
