INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 50 years for robbing and killing a man three years ago.

In 2019, Gerald Beamon’s body was found in a vacant apartment in the 3200 block of North Ruckle Street, just north of Downtown Indy. His body was found two days after his family reported him missing. He was last seen walking into that apartment with Ron-Ricco Duncan, according to Beamon’s family. Witnesses also told police they heard gunshots inside.

While investigating, IMPD says Duncan was talking with Beamon on social media before the robbery. After the shooting, Duncan was also talking about Beamon’s death with friends online.

Duncan told investigators that he and Beamon had been friends since high school and they worked together at a restaurant. However, Duncan’s recalling of the shooting had several inconsistencies, according to police. He later told detectives that he had helped set up the robbery that lead to Beamon’s death.

Duncan was sentenced to 50 years with 48 of them to be spent in the Indiana Department of Correction.
