INDIANAPOLIS – A 57-year-old woman has been arrested as a suspect in a 2021 death investigation, Indianapolis police said Monday.

Kokomo Police Department on Friday arrested Alyson Humphrey. Online court records show she faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter, which the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office filed Friday.

On Saturday, October 30, 2021, just after 1:30 p.m., IMPD officers were sent to a home in the 4700 block of East Michigan Street. That’s between North Sherman Drive and Emerson Avenue on the east side. Police said a man had been assaulted at the home, and he was sent to a hospital in critical condition. IMPD says one person was detained, questioned, and released pending further investigation.

On November 8, the victim died in the hospital and homicide detectives began investigating.

On May 13, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office filed a charge of involuntary manslaughter against Humphrey. She was arrested in Kokomo later that same day. Humphrey was the person of interest who was detained early in the investigation.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.
