“I miss Billy The Kid

The times that he had

The life that he lived

I guess he must’ve got caught

His innocence lost

I wonder where he is

I miss Billy The Kid”

Those are lyrics from Billy Dean’s song “Billy The Kid”. Billy Dean is an American country music singer and songwriter. Active as a recording artist since 1990, he has recorded a total of eight studio albums (of which the first three have been certified gold by the RIAA) and a greatest hits package that has also been certified gold.

His studio albums have accounted for more than 20 hit singles on the Billboard country charts, including 11 Top Ten hits. In 1992, he earned the Top New Male Vocalist award from the Academy of Country Music.

Billy Dean is coming to Danville. On May 22, you can watch Billy Dean perform at the Royal Theatre. With special guest Levi Riggs, the show will benefit Susie’s Place.

What Is Susie’s Place?

Susie’s Place is a child advocacy center. Susie’s Place conducts forensic interviews of children involved in reported instances of maltreatment. They also provide critical support to children and families from their three locations in Avon, Bloomington, and Terre Haute.

Susie’s Place protects children from abuse, neglect and sexual assault. Everything they do is focused on the child’s need.

Susie’s Place provides forensic interviews for children in a child-friendly center for the investigation of reported crimes against children. In the past, several different people often interviewed children. For example, school staff, Department of Child Services, law enforcement, and the prosecutor’s office would be involved.  Children were being traumatized by having to repeatedly tell their story. They were often interviewed in police stations, which are not child-friendly. As a response to those concerns, the Child Advocacy Center was born.
