PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. – A man from Crawfordsville was flown to a hospital in Indianapolis after crashing a dump truck in Putnam County Tuesday morning.

Indiana State Police say the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on U.S. 40 near County Road 475 East, which is in the southeastern portion of the county.

Police say Larry Brown, 64, of Crawfordsville, was driving a 2017 Mack (tri-axle) in the eastbound lane of U.S. 40. Investigators aren’t sure why, but he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway. Brown then overcorrected while turning back onto the road and hit the median which caused the truck to roll over onto the driver’s side.

The Greencastle Fire Department helped get him out of the vehicle and Brown was flown to a hospital in Indianapolis for serious injuries.
