We’re on the eve of the NFL Draft and the Indianapolis Colts have some major decisions ahead of them over the course of the next three days.  Who will they take with the 42nd overall pick?  Will they give quarterback Matt Ryan some weapons to throw to and some o       ffensive line help to keep him upright?  Could they draft his eventual successor?  Will they get really bold and trade up or will they try to accrue as many picks as possible and trade down?  There are so many questions and we’ll hopefully have quite a few answers by the time Monday morning rolls around but for the time being we’re still in “speculation season”.

On Wednesday’s Kevin & Query the guys were joined by former Colts center and current ESPN NFL analyst Jeff Saturday for the first time since the Super Bowl.  A lot has happened since then with the trade of Carson Wentz, the trade for Matt Ryan, free agency and the NFL Draft just a day away.  He covered a lot of ground, including what he thinks the Colts should do if they keep the 42nd overall pick.

I think they’ll go wide receiver to get [Matt] Ryan some guys.  I know there’s guys in the building they feel comfortable with and I don’t believe that’s a smokescreen but I do think they need some help.  They need some playmakers at that position. – ESPN’s Jeff Saturday on why he thinks the Colts will select a wide receiver with their 42nd overall pick

The Colts lone needs aren’t only at wide receiver.  Saturday also mentioned the need for offensive line help, specifically at left tackle, and mentioned some traits that he believes makes a top left tackle.

Athleticism, football intelligence are two key factors. I’d also say great leverage.  I’m not concerned with how big they are, you want a guy who is an anchor at that position. – Former Colts center Jeff Saturday on some key traits to look for at left tackle
