WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind. — The body of a young boy was found in Washington County over the weekend.

A group of mushroom hunters was in what state police described as a heavily wooded area of the county when they came across the body. Sgt. Carey Huls says it was that of a young African-American boy between five and eight years old.

“At this point in the investigation, we know we have this child that was located in the woods, but we have no information as to who this child is,” Huls said.

But Huls says the boy likely died within the last week.

In a press conference Saturday he said “somebody knows something” and urged anyone with information about the case to call state police in Sellersburg.
