Elon Musk’s offer to purchase Twitter is on the table.
The Tesla & SpaceX CEO is offering to buy all remaining shares of the social media giant for $54.20 per share, according to the SEC, which would value the company at an astounding $43.5 billion dollars.
Musk’s offer for Twitter represents a 38% premium over the company’s closing price from the start of the month.
The world’s richest man says this cash offer is his “best and final offer.”
The SEC filing also says Musk sent a letter to Twitter executives Wednesday saying the company needs to go private in order to make adjustments.
“I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy,” Musk wrote in a letter sent to Twitter Chairman Bret Taylor.
“However, since making my investment I now realize the company will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed [into] a private company.
“If the deal doesn’t work, given that I don’t have confidence in management nor do I believe I can drive the necessary change in the public market, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder.”
Naturally, liberal champions of unfettered censorship are losing their minds over the news.
“He’s not going to encourage ‘free speech’ he’s just going to allow people to say whatever they want, which is not at all the same thing,” fretted one of Musk’s many mentally disturbed detractors.
“It’s a consensus in social sciences that free speech can’t be limitless. You should keep investing your time in things you actually know how it works, like the engineering fields that [sic] u are great [sic] on it,” wrote another armchair financial advisor who is not the world’s richest man.
“That day I will close my Twitter. It will turn into a private propaganda machine,” fretted another far-left progressive prone to making bold promises that will fail to materialize.
Fun Facts About Twitter’s Judgment in Censorship:
- The Babylon Bee, Defiant L’s, Libs of TikTok, Tucker Carlson, and former President Donald Trump were all suspended from Twitter.
- The Ayatollah of Iran, horrific videos of people being killed, and the racist rants of users like the New York subway shooter remain readily available.
Side Note: The people who pretend to be Joe Biden have yet to comment on Musk’s offer.
