They’ll bring guys in for a visit and it’s usually an obvious ‘kick the tires’ situation….this feels different. – Joel A. Erickson on the reports that Stephon Gilmore met with the Colts on Wednesday

Colts owner Jim Irsay mentioned that a big name defensive free agent could be coming to the Colts if the financials work out.  Is that “big splash” cornerback Stephon Gilmore?  He’s one of the big name defensive free agents still on the market and would definitely fit the bill and check a big need that the Colts have on the roster.  Gilmore reportedly was flown in for a visit with the Colts on a private jet on Wednesday afternoon, according to long-time reporter Josina Anderson.

On Thursday’s edition of Kevin & Query, the guys were joined by Indianapolis Star Colts reporter Joel A. Erickson.  Erickson discussed what he knew of the visit, why it felt different than other free agent visits in the past, what a potential contract for Gilmore might look like and the team’s positional needs with the NFL Draft just two weeks away.

If you think you can get the quarterback of the future, the legit quarterback of the future, then you should go get him. – Joel A. Erickson on if the Colts should draft a quarterback despite just trading for Matt Ryan
