Washington, DC — President Biden is extending the pause on federal student loan repayments through August.
Biden released a statement saying the U.S. is still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and the “unprecedented economic disruption it caused.” The pause on repayments was implemented around the start of the pandemic in March of 2020. Repayments were originally scheduled to resume in May before being extended once more.
Congressional Democrats have been pushing hard for an extension of the pause because of rising inflation.
