Former football great, convicted felon, and killer OJ Simpson says Will Smith was “wrong” for slapping comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars Sunday but says he can relate.

“He was wrong, but I understand the sentiment,” the guy who brutally murdered Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman in 1994 said in a video posted to Twitter.

Simpson, who played the role of “Nordberg” in “The Naked Gun” series and later dabbled in armed robbery, continued:

“In my life, I’ve been through a lot of crap. I was raising two young kids and every comedian in the country had O.J. routines [because I got away with killing two people] and don’t think I wouldn’t want to B-slap a couple of those guys, but you’ve got to accept it’s human [to harass a guy who got away with murder].”

The killer continued:

“I didn’t think it was all that egregious [compared to committing a double murder like me]. I thought it was a semi-unfunny joke, but I don’t know, [I’m just a killer, not a comedian]. I don’t get it, [but some things you can’t question – like jury letting a killer walk free]. I know this, after what happened to me in Las Vegas [which wasn’t nearly as bad as what happened to Ron and Nicole], if I would have done that in front of a billion people watching around the world they would have given me life without [which would have been ironic considering I murdered two people and didn’t go to jail for THAT]. I’m just saying. Hey, take care.”

After sharing his thoughts on Will Smith and what constitutes ‘good taste’ in humor, OJ’s followers shared a few thoughts of their own.
