The Indianapolis Colts have a new quarterback.
The team acquired 37-year-old quarterback Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons for a third-round pick Thursday.
The Colts have been looking for a long-term answer since Andrew Luck retired in August 2019. Kevin Bowen from 93.5 & 107.5 The Fan told the Hammer and Nigel Show that the Colts’ acquisition of Matt Ryan as their quarterback is still a temporary bandage on that wound.
“To me, it’s still a Band-Aid,” Bowen said. “And in a very competitive AFC, it doesn’t get you to the top half necessarily. But in an AFC South where there is really just one serious team, if Tennessee slips up, the Colts could have a serious shot at making the playoffs.”
Ryan will be the Colts’ seventh different Week 1 starter in as many years and the fifth different starting quarterback in coach Frank Reich’s tenure.
