GAS CITY, Ind. — A man found dead in the parking lot of a McDonalds in Gas City. But, it’s how the man died that have investigators puzzled.
The coroner says it was Steven Smelser who died in his 2006 Hummer in the parking lot of the McDonalds Saturday evening.
Workers in the restaurant noticed him sitting in his car and he didn’t respond when they knocked on his window. Police and EMTs were called and he was pronounced dead.
The coroner says Smelser had a long history of heart problems and was wearing a device to help with those issues, except when they found him it was not working.
Still, no foul play is suspected.
