INDIANAPOLIS–A man was shot and killed on the northwest side of Indianapolis Monday night.

IMPD says the shooting happened around 11 in the 3400 block of W. 34th Place. That is northeast of the intersection of West 34th street and Moeller Road. Police have not been able to find a suspect.

IMPD Nightwatch Commander Kerry Buckner said a violence reduction team has been working hard to deal with the crime problem.

“This northwest reduction team that we have is five-star. They are on it all night long. They’re hitting all the hotspots that have high amounts of violence. We’re pleased that they were close. We wish they would have caught someone, but that doesn’t always happen,” said Buckner.

Buckner argues that doesn’t take away from the progress they’re making.

“It shows that we’re hitting the areas we’re supposed to hit. This area is pretty broad. It’s not like they can be on every street when something happens,” said Buckner.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Detective Christopher Higgins at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317.327.3475 or e-mail him at Christopher.Higgins@indy.gov.
