The Opening Ceremony for the 2022 Winter Olympics is set for Friday in Beijing. There’s been major controversy over the US sending athletes to China.
Instead of wishing our athletes luck, advice, and encouragement for the upcoming games, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a warning of caution.
Pelosi discussed the US’s moral obligation in condemning China’s human rights abuses during a Congressional-Executive Commission on China. She did clarify, however, that US Olympians should essentially keep their heads down.
“Do not risk incurring the anger of the Chinese government because they are ruthless.”

Pelosi did slam the International Olympic Committee for awarding the Games to Beijing, declaring the treatment of minority groups in China genocide.
The Winter Olympics kicked-off earlier this week with Curling qualifications.
