STATEWIDE–Once the winter storm goes away, you can expect dry conditions but temperatures won’t get above the freezing mark in most places across Indiana for the next couple of days.

“We expect most of the snow to be done by about 8 pm (EST), but then there could be some snow showers that could linger into the evening,” said Alex McGinnis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

McGinnis thinks those lingering snow showers will be light. Once those dissipate, you can expect it to be dry for several days.

“It will be a mix of sun and clouds. We’re expecting lows tonight around 10 for the Indy area. Lows will be around 0 on Friday night. Lows will be around 10 again Saturday night. Through the weekend, high temperatures will be in the low 20s Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will get up to freezing on Sunday,” said McGinnis.

McGinnis says you can expect a similar warming trend across the rest of the state.

If shoveling snow is on your agenda in the coming days, then the National Weather Service wants to make sure you are aware of these helpful tips:

-Be advised that shoveling heavy, wet snow can put a big strain on your heart

-Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks

-Only move small amounts of snow with each shovel pass
