INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been arrested in the investigation into Wednesday afternoon’s shooting at a motel on the east side.

Indianapolis Metro Police say they were called for a person shot along North Shadeland Avenue just after 2:00 p.m. They arrived at the Motor 8 Inn near the intersection of Shadeland and East 38th Street where a man was found shot to death in one of the rooms.

“The male was transported to Eskenazi hospital in critical condition,” IMPD said in an emailed statement. “Despite life-saving techniques, he was pronounced deceased by medical staff shortly after arriving at the hospital.”

Detectives began looking for the shooter and it didn’t take them long to track them down.

“As other officers patrolled the area, they observed a male walking in the area of East 38th Street at N. Elizabeth Street that fit the description of the suspect,” said detectives. “Officers were able to detain the male and he was transported to IMPD Homicide office for questioning.”

After questioning him further, they arrested him, charged him with murder, and also booked him for an unrelated warrant for robbery. Police are not releasing the man’s name yet.
