Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has officially announced she will be running for re-election ahead of 2022 midterms.

Even though Pelosi, D-California, previously stated she would step down as the leader of the House Democrats, she says there’s much more that needs to be done before she leaves office.

“Our vision for a world at peace requires a strong Democracy at home…Our democracy is at risk because of assaults on the truth… and the state-by-state assault on voting rights. This election is crucial. Nothing less is at stake than our Democracy… and that is why I am running for reelection to Congress.”

In her video announcement, Pelosi says she is running for re-election for “the children.” She outlines some of her top priorities for Congress which include climate change, gun violence, and fighting COVID-19 with equity.

Tony Katz argues why anyone should vote for her after taking just a brief look of her job performance the last few years.

When I see the policies she pushes, the radicalness in her takes, the ‘we have to pass the bill before you can find out what’s in it.’ Why am I supposed to like her? What am I supposed to value in her? When I see her unwilling to say to Rep. Ilhan Omar ‘shame on you for your anti-Semitism’ and actually protect it. What respect should any of us have for her?
