A legislation from Sen. Ted Cruz that would impose sanctions on businesses linked to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is receiving controversy.

The President of the Ukraine tweeted his thanks to Senators Ted Cruz and Chuck Schumer for their efforts.

Tony Katz says it fairly telling of where Democrats are leaning in voting against the sanctions.

Those against Sen. Cruz’s legislation say unwise and would cause the US’s relationship with Europe to break. They believe that the amendment wouldn’t deter Russia from invading Ukraine.

To pass the bill through the Senate, Cruz will need at least 10 Democratic senators support. The Senate will vote by January 14th.
