(FISHERS, Ind.) – Students and teachers in Fishers will get top priority for COVID testing.

The Fishers Health Department is expanding its testing hours by 19 1/2 hours a week, setting aside additional time before and after its regular hours for students, teachers and staff at the Hamilton Southeastern Schools and at private schools in Fishers. The department says it wants to make sure schools can stay open safely.

The department will give schools top priority from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on weekdays. An additional two hours a day will be set aside for schools around midday on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and in mid-to-late afternoon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The health department is still offering testing for all Hoosiers in between the hours reserved for schools.

The department announced last week it would give priority to Hoosiers under 18 or over 50 for antigen tests, which are faster but less accurate.
