Thursday marked the one year anniversary of the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Instead of offering words of unity, Vice President Kamala Harris made a disturbing comparison of 1/6 to Pearl Harbor and September 11th.

President Biden and VP Harris both spoke at the National Statuary Hall at the Capitol to remember January 6th’s riot. There were many off-putting things said during the day, but the Vice President’s comment comparing historic foreign attacks on America to an American-led riot takes the win.

“Certain dates echo throughout history, including dates that instantly remind all who have lived through them where they were, and what they were doing when our democracy came under assault. Dates that occupy not only a place on our calendars, but a place in our collective memory. December 7, 1941, September 11th, 2001 and January 6th, 2021.”

Tony Katz notes that January 6th was a riot, but certainly not an insurrection. The audacity the Vice President had to compare a few hundred Americans entering the Capitol to the horrendous acts of terrorists is diseased.

“Pearl Harbor: 2300 people died. September 11th: 3000 people died. Actual attacks on the country from nations and terrorists. You have 75 million Trump voters, and had 400/500 people go into the Capitol where not all were engaged in violence and some were even invited in…this is theater; shameful, unnecessary theater.”
