The esteemed Joseph R. Biden really outdid himself while delivering the commencement address at South Carolina State University Friday, referring once again to his vice president and ‘border security specialist’ as “President Harris.”

“All kidding aside, of course, President Harris is a proud Howard alum,” Biden said in his comments.

Honestly, how does he keep making this mistake? She’s barely the vice president. This is at least the third time he’s referred to Harris as “president.”

To be fair, he also informed graduates that humans will be able to travel commercially at 15 times the speed of a bullet in 20 years, so it’s not like calling Harris the “president” is the most implausible thing he said Friday.

“You’re gonna see more change in the next 10 years than we’ve seen the last 50 because of the incredible, incredible change in science and technology,” Biden said. “You’re gonna see us traveling commercially in the next 20 years at 12 to 15,000 miles an hour. Subsonic speeds, supersonic speed — I mean, things are going to change.”

Fun Fact: A bullet fired by a 9mm handgun or a .22 rifle has a muzzle velocity of about 800 mph.

Fun Fact, The Sequel: The Space Shuttle reached a velocity of around 17,500 mph to enter orbit around Earth.

Inescapable Conclusion: It’s going to take one heck of a lot of fuel to power commercial airliners at 15,000 mph. Open the pipelines and renew the drilling leases, Joe.

Biden also outlined the upcoming Democratic election strategy that focuses heavily on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and anti-racism – all very fun and inspiring topics for a graduation ceremony.
