GREENWOOD, Ind. — A 14-year-old boy was hit Thursday morning by a driver who disregarded a school bus stop arm.

The boy was crossing eastbound Main Street at around 7 a.m. when he was hit by a dark-colored or black four-door sedan, said Greenwood Police. The car did not stop after hitting the boy and sped away from the scene.

The school bus was at a complete stop in the westbound lane of Main Street with its cross arm out and activated when the driver disregarded it and hit the boy.

The boy was taken to the hospital but has since been released.
