FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Allen County coroner has identified the four people who were found dead inside a Fort Wayne home Monday night, and how they were killed.

Police say 20-year-old Samuel Long shot and killed his parents, 50-year-old Mark Long and 45-year-old Lisa Long, along with his sister, 15-year-old Mahala Long. He then shot and killed himself. Officers found all four dead in their home on Cook Road, near U.S. 33, around 9 p.m. Monday.

Capt. Steve Stone with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department says with the shooter dead, that makes it hard for investigators to find a motive.

“We hadn’t been out to the home before, for domestics or disturbances, so there’s nothing that really points to a certain direction,” Stone said.

A fifth person inside the house, an elderly woman, hid in the bathroom during the shootings, and was able to escape and call police.

“A thing like this is always tragic, any time of the year,” Stone said. “But, you know, around the holidays…there’s going to be a lot of grieving.”
