INDIANAPOLIS–The 2021 Indiana High School Football State Championships will feel “much more normal this year”, according to the Commissioner of the Indiana High School Athletic Association Paul Niedig.

While it hasn’t been easy, Niedig says schools around the state have done a great job learning “how to live with COVID.” If you want to attend the football state finals at Lucas Oil Stadium, Niedig says it won’t be like last year where they had to clear the stadium out in between games.

“To the fan that’s been there, it’s going to look relatively normal. Once you get there, you can watch football. There’s no mask requirement for fans this year at Lucas Oil. You can make that choice if you choose to and we support the fan’s choice,” said Niedig.

You can buy digital tickets in person at the Lucas Oil Stadium box office. Tickets are $15 per person. Children age five and younger get in free.

“There will still be COVID protocols around with hand sanitizer and those types of things. I think it’s going to look mostly like what it has in the past pre-COVID,” said Niedig.

Niedig says the other fall sports had great state finals and he expects the football state finals to be the same.

“We saw great crowds in cross country, soccer, volleyball, boys tennis, girls golf, etc. In almost every case, the state finals were attended at normal numbers, if not record numbers,” said Niedig.

On Friday, the 1A game kicks off at noon followed by the 3A game at 3:30 pm and then the 5A contest at 7 pm. On Saturday, the 2A championship game begins at noon followed by the 4A game at 3:30 pm and then the 6A game at 7 pm.
