WABASH, Ind. — State police are investigating an incident where a police officer in Wabash fired his gun and injured a 51-year-old man.

Wabash County Sheriff’s deputies were serving a search warrant at a home on Tuesday. As they were entering the home they noticed the man inside and it looked like he was holding a handgun.

One deputy fired a shot, hitting the man who was then taken to a Fort Wayne hospital. No one else was injured in the incident.

Once State Police investigators have what they need, they will turn their findings over to the Wabash County prosecutor.
