STATEWIDE–Rain and cool temperatures will be a part of your Thanksgiving Day.

“We’re expecting sunny skies through the day Wednesday. Most places will see temperatures in the low to mid-50s. Once we get into Wednesday night and Thursday, we’re expecting a cold front to move in bringing rain mainly during the late overnight hours into Thursday through the morning. Then temperatures will drop throughout the day,” said Andrew White, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

White expects the rain to stick around through the afternoon hours on Thursday.

“Rainfall amounts aren’t too extreme. We’re expecting anywhere between a quarter and a half-inch of rain with this,” said White.

One thing White urges you to monitor is not just the cold temperatures, but also the wind chill.

“Most of the area will see temperatures in the low 20s later this week. Wind chills will be in the teens,” said White.

White doesn’t expect there to be any precipitation across the state Friday or Saturday, but he says there could be another “system” that moves in late in the weekend.

“It’s still pretty far out to have an idea of what we’re expecting, so just monitor the forecast as things develop. Also, if you still have any plants outside, we’re getting to the time of the year where we expect temperatures most nights to be below freezing. You’ll definitely want to be getting those inside during the overnight hours,” said White.
