(INDIANAPOLIS) – A new Ivy Tech Indianapolis program seeks to draw tighter connections with the jobs your degree can get you.

“Advance With Ivy Tech Indy” will customize classes and marketing to individual employers. The school will tweak class offerings to align them with the jobs participating businesses need to fill, and make sure students know what jobs those courses can lead to.

Indianapolis International Airport and IBM are the first partners in the program. Ivy Tech Indianapolis Chancellor Lorenzo Esters says he hopes to add more. He says it’s a chance for the school to be more deliberate in the ways it serves the community and its employers.

Esters says the program will target both students working on building their credentials for the job market, and workers already with participating businesses who need to add skills or certificates.

The IBM partnership includes a new cybersecurity center, where students can get training in defending against simulated cyberattacks.
