Veterans Day, a federal holiday for honoring those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, is Thursday, November 11th.

The Indy Warrior Partnership (IWP) helps improve veterans’ quality of life in central Indiana and provides support to our heroes before they are faced with an insurmountable challenge in their lives.

“It’s an effort to reach those veterans who are not in crisis,” veteran Matt Hall, Program Director of Indy Warrior Partnership, told the Hammer and Nigel Show. “It’s about connecting with [veterans] who are living their lives and doing a great job because we’re all just one life event away from needing assistance – be it a car wreck, a sickness, getting fired from a job, a house fire, or some other significant event.”

Hall said it’s important for veterans to know that they have a support system in place through IWP – especially if they are dealing with PTSD.

“There are a lot of situations right now with the refugees where [veterans] are getting triggered,” he said. “We’re watching these Afghan soldiers get slaughtered, we’re seeing explosions, and sometimes it takes me right back there to serving in Afghanistan.”

Hoosier veterans can get help with their needs by calling 317-352-5413.

Hall also spoke with us extensively about the U.S withdrawal from Afghanistan and what went wrong. Click below to hear the full interview.
