INDIANAPOLIS–The Riley Maternity Tower at Riley Hospital for Children opened Sunday in Indianapolis. The staff says it has 116 beds, which makes it the only facility in the state that provides “the highest level of care for both moms and babies under one roof.”

Among other things, the tower is supposed to provide comprehensive maternity services and improve the experience for mothers and babies. They plan to accommodate nearly 4,000 baby deliveries each year.

The tower is five stories. It will also include a Level IV Obstetrical and Neonatal Care – the highest level of care for both a mother and baby.

More than 500 Riley team members helped support the move.

“This is the only place I’ve ever wanted to work. I moved into this position and this is where I’ve wanted to stay. The unit is so beautiful. We need to have that space for our babies and our families,” said Nicole Toole, Riley Children’s Health maternity & newborn health director.
