INDIANAPOLIS–One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a fire east of downtown Indianapolis Friday morning.
Just before 9 am, the Indianapolis Fire Department was called to a fire in the 3600 block of Vermont Street, which is near the intersection of N. Sherman Drive and East New York Street.
One person was found dead in the home. No other injuries or deaths have been reported.
Firefighters are trying to figure out what caused the fire. Homicide investigators are assisting with the investigation.
