BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A mask mandate has been extended in Monroe County.
The Monroe County Health Department says commissioners decided to continue with an order requiring masks to be worn when in indoor public spaces.
The mandate had been set to expire Oct. 31. It has been in place since Aug. 4.
The commission decided to keep the mask mandate in place until the county’s COVID-19 rate is fewer than 50 weekly cases per 100,000 people. Updated numbers released late Wednesday have put the county in the blue category on the Indiana Department of Health Coronavirus Map.
The county’s rate on Wednesday was 92 weekly cases per 100,000 people.
