INDIANAPOLIS — Two students at Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center were arrested Tuesday for having loaded handguns in their backpacks.

According to an email to parents from Principal Kelin Mark, a student told staff about another student possibly having a gun and the school implemented its safety plan.

School administrators found a loaded handgun in a student’s backpack and the student was arrested, said Mark.

During the investigation by Wayne Township School Police and IMPD, another loaded gun was found in another student’s backpack. That student was also arrested.

The Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township has not identified either of the students.
