INDIANAPOLIS–Air travel is expected to increase this weekend at the Indianapolis International Airport with many travelers on fall break.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) estimates nearly 17,000 passengers will fly out of Indianapolis Friday and close to 18,000 passengers on Saturday.

Early morning flights (5-8 am) are the most impacted, which is why airport representatives encourage you to arrive at least two hours early if you are flying during that timeframe Saturday. It is also best to arrive two hours ahead of time for flights that aren’t early in the morning too.

By way of a federal mandate, masks are still required at airports. That mandate has been extended until January 2022.

If you are picking up a friend or family member at the airport, the Indianapolis Airport Authority recommends that you use the Cell Phone Lot to wait until they are ready for you to pick them up.
