BROWNSBURG, Ind. — Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has signed Jack Harvey to its driver line-up for next year.

Harvey will drive the HyVee No. 45 car full-time in the 2022 NTT IndyCar Series season, making him teammates with Graham Rahal.

“I feel ready to have an expanded role,” Harvey said in a Zoom call Monday. “I’m excited to get on track. I’m ready to win.”

RLL is co-owned by former talk show host David Letterman and former IndyCar driver Bobby Rahal.

“I’ve had interest in Jack before, and obviously he’s shown his pace, he showed he had a lot of good races,” Rahal said.

Harvey is making the jump to RLL after parting ways with Meyer Shank Racing, where he has been since 2018. His best finish with the team was fourth, both at St. Petersburg and Portland in 2021.

Last week, it was announced that Simon Pagenaud would be leaving Team Penske to replace Harvey in the No. 60 car for MSR in 2022, making him teammates with four-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves.

“It was a tough decision, but ultimately, where I was before, at MSR…I was there a long time, I know a lot of people there,” Harvey said. “It would’ve been easy to have stayed, and ultimately, I wouldn’t have just left that organization for anything, but I was really excited about this project, this opportunity, and I wanted to be a part of it.”

RLL Racing will be a three-car operation in 2022, but the third driver has yet to be named. The team has already announced that Takuma Sato, a two-time winner of the Indy 500, will not be returning to the No. 30 car next season. Rahal says they plan on naming his replacement by the end of this month.
