Today we celebrate Columbus Day. A national holiday that celebrates Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the Americas. Within the last several years, many states are replacing the day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day to instead recognize the native populations that were displaced and decimated after Europeans arrived to the continent.

Even though Columbus Day is technically still a federal holiday, President Biden became the first US president to issue a proclamation commemorating Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Tony Katz says this day is to celebrate the roots of the United States which has been twisted by the woke.

“I reject, out of hand, the idea that we somehow no longer call it “Columbus Day” because of Indigenous people. Christopher Columbus is a symbol of the colonizers. History is full of colonizers. History is replete with examples of people, of groups, of nations, of societies that went into other places and declared that it was now their society.

The idea of the colonizer is to make claim to the idea that somehow the society today is unworthy of its existence…. I’m not going to sit here and deny America’s importance to creating better world….I refuse to be a part of it.”

More than 130 cities and 14 states across the country have made the switch from Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples’ Day. To that Katz says…

Happy Columbus Day!
