INDIANAPOLIS — On Friday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released video footage of an incident on the city’s east side last month, where officers shot and killed a homicide suspect.

On September 1, IMPD went to a gas station on East 21st Street, where James Williams was inside. Williams was a suspect for a double homicide that happened in August.

While Williams was inside the gas station for more than an hour, officers waited for him in the parking lot. When he exited, and saw police, he ran right back inside, where officers followed him.

Video surveillance shows police telling customers to get out, while Williams stood in the corner, with a gun in his hand. He ignored commands to get down, and instead, pointed the gun at police. That’s when officers shot him multiple times.

Despite life-saving efforts, Williams was pronounced dead.

IMPD is still investigating the shooting.
