The body found at a Ray’s Trash Service transfer station in Lawrence on Thursday has been identified as 37-year-old Jon Esterline.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office is still working to determine how and why he died.


LAWRENCE, Ind. — Police are investigating after sanitation workers found a man’s body at a Ray’s Trash Service transfer station in Lawrence.

Workers preparing to take items to a landfill found the body just after 9 a.m. Thursday, according to police.

Investigators believe the body was brought to the transfer station by a garbage truck and arrived within the last day. Police don’t know where the body was before arriving at Ray’s and don’t know how it ended up in the trash.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the man, along with his cause and manner of death.
