INDIANAPOLIS —  A woman was taken to the hospital after her minivan hit a house on Indy’s northwest side early Friday morning, according to IMPD.

Police and firefighters were called to a house fire in the 6100 block of Pillory  Circle at around 1:20 a.m.

IMPD said a minivan was headed south on Zionsville road at “a high rate of speed” when it went airborne and hit the house.

The minivan also hit a gas line and an electrical box, causing a fire that severely damaged part of the house.

The person inside the house at the time of the accident was able to escape.

The female driver of the minivan left the scene after the crash. She was later caught by police and taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.

Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
