STATE WIDE–The decision not to heed the vaccine requirement at IU health has consequences. The organization said Thursday that 125 workers had quit, rather than get the coronavirus vaccine.
They had been part of a group of 300 workers who were suspended after they declined to be vaccinated. When the two-week suspensions were up, they handed in their resignations.
“Indiana University Health has put the safety and well-being of patients and team members first by requiring employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Sept. 1.,” read a statement from the health care system. “After a two-week unpaid suspension period ending Sept. 14, a total of 125 employees, the equivalent of 61 full time employees, chose not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and have left the organization.”
The employees quit during a time when health care workers are badly needed.
