CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. — It’s estimated that about a thousand Afghan refugees arrived at Camp Atterbury Thursday evening.
Indiana National Guard leaders say that they have started the vetting process for refugees as well as medical screenings.
Brigadier General Dale Lyles, the Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard, said earlier this week that they have already identified several refugees heading for Indiana that may have COVID.
Many of them have already been tested twice and will be tested a third time on the ground at Atterbury. It’s expected that 5,000 refugees will eventually be in Indiana.
